I have decided I would like
to create an ‘indie’ music magazine, aimed at males and females aged 16-20. In
order to create my magazine I need to hold a number of research activities, to
ensure there is a gap in the market for my product and that my product will
meet the requirements in order to compete with other top music magazine brands.
I am going to start with a questionnaire asking 20 people, 10 male and 10 female from my selected target audience, ages 16-20 to find out what they seek from music magazines.

My second activity will be to look at the music magazines on offer to people of this age and see if they are fitting the
requirements that my audience have specified on my questionnaire.
My next research activity
will be an annotated example of a music magazine front cover, contents page and
double page spread to help me identify the key codes and conventions of an
actual music magazine, which will also help when I come to apply these factors
to the construction of my magazine to create a professional looking
product.
My final research task will
be to look into web based research into the target audience, then write an essay also discussing the representations of people in my
chosen genre of music magazine.
